Whether you’re 26 and flying, 29 and figuring it out, or already there and pretending to be 27 again — this list is for you.
Not all of it is deep. Some of it is just vibes. But if you’ve ticked off most of these, chances are, you’ve got a good head on your shoulders.
We asked a few people on the Eccentric team, plus some of our 30+ customers, to share the things they believe every man should know, own, or outgrow before 30.
Here’s what we came up with — a little style, a little sense, and a few quiet reminders that you’re not doing too bad.
Style & Grooming
- Just have one suit that always pulls compliments — you don’t need ten, just one that hits.
- Build a wardrobe you can mix and match without thinking too hard. (More on that this month, by the way.)
- Find a tailor that gets your fit without needing a long explanation.
- Everyone needs one outfit that says “don’t talk to me” — maybe a cold 2-piece or trad that slaps.
- Your body’s not the problem. The fit is. Dress for your shape, not someone else’s.
- That giant H belt? Time to retire it.
- Smell good. Not strong. Not loud. Just good.
Money & Work
- Start saying “my rate is…” and mean it with your chest.
- Have more than one bank account — just makes life easier.
- Invest in something you could explain to a 10-year-old. If it’s too complex, maybe sit it out.
- Save money quietly. You don’t need to post about the grind every time.
- Read the damn contract. Every time.
- Stop feeling weird about your salary — we’re all just trying to figure it out.
- Have a CV and wardrobe that both say “I’m serious.”
- If you’re hiring someone, pay them. Don’t bargain people to the ground.
- Go to the dentist. That smile is part of your capital.
Mental
- Apologize properly. Just own it.
- Say no when you need to. Protect your peace.
- Call your people back. No one’s that busy.
- Have that one friend who can pull you aside and tell you you’re moving mad.
- Be okay being alone sometimes. Doesn’t mean you’re lonely.
- Be the guy people name when someone says “I trust his judgement.”
- Say “I don’t know” without shame. You’re not dumb. You’re learning.
- Outgrow all that comparison energy. Just stay consistent.
- Learn how to actually rest. Not scroll-rest. Real rest.
- Move like the version of you five years from now would be proud.
You’re not late. You’re just in motion.
Tick a few off, SHARE to someone who needs it, and keep it moving.
